Welcome to Womenpreneur Asia, the podcast that brings you the most insightful and inspiring stories of Asian women entrepreneurs! I’m Krista Goon, the host and creator of this podcast, and today’s episode is a special solo episode (approximately 26 minutes) on becoming memorable and unique in your business.
If you’re looking to stand out, build trust and attract the right clients, check this episode out.
In this episode, I’ll be breaking down how to craft a compelling personal brand story, why it matters and how to use it effectively in your marketing. By the end of this episode, you’ll walk away with actionable steps to start telling your own story with confidence.

Personal Branding Matters
We hear it all the time—”You must build your personal brand!” But what exactly does that mean? First, let’s clarify what a personal brand is not: it’s not just a logo, a color scheme or a fancy symbol. A personal brand is intangible; it’s what people say about you when you’re in the room and when you’re not. It’s the way people perceive you, the values you stand for, and how you show up in the world.
People don’t just buy products or services anymore—they buy into the people behind the business.
Think about it: don’t you feel more connected to brands when you resonate with the founder’s story?
A strong personal brand is built on authenticity, consistency and trust. It’s about defining how you want to be known and actively embodying those values.
Storytelling Is More Important Now Than Ever
People remember stories far more than they recall facts and figures. A great story ignites emotions, fosters connection, and builds trust. Yet many entrepreneurs hesitate to share their stories, believing they have nothing interesting to say. That’s not true! We all have unique experiences that shape who we are and why we do what we do.
Your personal brand story should answer these key questions:
- Who are you? Define yourself beyond your job title.
- What led you to start your business? Share the moments that inspired you.
- What challenges did you overcome? Your struggles make you relatable and human.
- How does your story shape your business today? Connect your journey to your mission.
- What’s next for you? Show how your story continues to evolve.
I’ll share a bit of my own journey: I never imagined I’d be an entrepreneur. I was a corporate communications manager who pursued a Master’s degree out of boredom, and eventually, I quit my job to complete my studies. I then joined my husband in his web development business, learning copywriting and sales from scratch. Over the years, I realized my passion lay in helping businesses tell their stories authentically. I have been doing this for 21 years. Today, I spin off on that mission through Womenpreneur Asia, where I showcase the heartwarming stories of Asian women entrepreneurs.
Finding Your Unique Voice
Your brand voice should reflect your personality, values, and mission. Are you casual and friendly? Or more formal and authoritative? Think about how you naturally communicate and let that shine through in your messaging.
For me, I enjoy a friendly, straightforward, and pragmatic tone. In my free time, I love reading, traveling without an agenda, and discovering new restaurants. I’m also passionate about sustainability—I co-founded a book rescue project that has been raising funds for charity since 2016. These details make my brand voice unique because they showcase who I am beyond my work.
Your personal brand is your most powerful asset. It’s what sets you apart in a crowded market. By defining your values, crafting your story, and embracing your unique voice, you’ll create a brand that resonates deeply with your audience.
So, what’s your story? Listen to this episode where I share how you can start crafting your story. Once you have your story in place, start sharing it with confidence, and watch how it transforms your business and your relationships with clients!

Did you enjoy this solo episode and the strategies that I shared? When I started Womenpreneur Asia in 2020, I started by featuring and interviewing Asian women in business across Asia. However, in the past year, some friends have asked me to create more solo episodes to share what I have learned in my own entrepreneurship journey and from coaching, consulting and teaching others.
