About Krista Goon
Hello, I’m Krista from Penang, Malaysia!
I'm the host, creator and producer of Womenpreneur Asia, a podcast that features the stories, strategies and wisdom of Asian women entrepreneurs in Asia.
I started the podcast in March 2020 during the pandemic year without any knowledge of podcasting. I learned to podcast from scratch and published my first episode that year in October.
Today, you can listen to 151+ podcast conversations which I have been privileged to produce - the rich and multifaceted experiences of Asian women across Asia who have started and sustained businesses in their creative ways.
I have been featured on Bernama TV and Bernama Radio, Buletin Mutiara, The Star, Penang Monthly and even in a Japanese newspaper for my initiative as a podcaster sharing the stories of amazing women across Asia.
Watch the Bernama TV interview where host of The Nation, Gerard Ratnam interviews me about women entrepreneurs in ASEAN and my thoughts about entrepreneurship.
Stories that inspire me, stories that help me pause and reflect.
Stories that help me unravel and understand the complexity and the highs and lows of entrepreneurship.
Stories that reveal hope, courage and optimism.
"Womenpreneur Asia is one of those podcasts that I recommend to angel investors to listen to. Because as an investor, you also need to understand the perspective of a founder. And so the entrepreneurs that you’re interviewing, Krista, that’s a great source for inspiration as an investor to get started by just trying to understand the ecosystem of startups because that’s a whole new world for many people." -
MAAIKE DOYER, SINGAPORE

“Your podcast is a beacon of empowerment, shining a spotlight on women entrepreneurs across the region. You are the inspiration behind us kicking off our very own Insight Your Success! podcast this year. Thank you so much for your dedication to uplifting and celebrating women in business. Thank you for providing such a valuable platform and for the meaningful conversations.” - SHARYNE FONG, FIJI
"This was actually the first time I’ve been so public about a lot of my personal experiences. I’m glad I did, because my story was in good hands. You captured the complexity of my journey beautifully, and I especially appreciate how you highlighted the non-linear aspect as the central theme."
- RAHEL PODOBSKY-STUCKI, THE PHILLIPINES
Asian Women's Entrepreneurship Stories Matter
I have been a big fan of podcasts since the day I bought my iPod in 2012. I listened to entrepreneurship and leadership podcasts while I was taking my walks at the park.
Podcasts have always been my way of learning and gaining new perspectives.
These perspectives were almost always American. No doubt the American podcasts were useful – I’ve implemented many marketing and business ideas with much success.
However, I felt something was missing.
Can you resonate?
What about a podcast that showcased Asian women’s perspectives in Asia about starting, growing and sustaining their entrepreneurial ventures?
Real, everyday women. Women who aren’t celebrities but run businesses that they love.
Women who could share insights and learnings about the ups and downs of managing and operating a business.
Women who could talk about mistakes, challenges and disappointments and would still do it all over again in a heartbeat!
Women who are not afraid of being vulnerable.
As an entrepreneur, I understand what it feels like to be in business. I’ve been in business since 2004 and I call myself the “accidental entrepreneur” because it was never my ambition to be an entrepreneur or run a business!
Plus, as the co-founder of WomenBizSENSE, a women’s entrepreneur organization, I have met and spoken to many women entrepreneurs in Malaysia. I’ve also had the opportunity to mentor women in business so I get it when women discuss their problems and challenges of being in a startup, starting a business after leaving their corporate jobs, creating a social enterprise or taking over a family business.
I love connecting with women in business through my podcast. This podcast extends the work that we help clients with, in Redbox Studio, which is my main business – empowering entrepreneurs with the mindset, knowledge and tools to live richer, more purposeful lives.
Starting a podcast was an idea. Yet it was made real when I headed to Oahu, Hawaii that the podcast became a reality. I pitched the podcast idea as part of my presentation at a women’s leadership programme in Hawaii in July 2019 and all my Asia Pacific friends loved the idea!
Join Me In My Mission!
Do you know that a woman in business impacts and improves the community she lives in?
Says OECD, “Women’s economic participation and their ownership and control of productive assets speeds up development, helps overcome poverty, reduces inequalities and improves children’s nutrition, health, and school attendance. Women typically invest a higher proportion of their earnings in their families and communities than men.”
While my guests are Asian women in business in Asia, my listeners are from all over – Malaysia, the United States, Australia, the Philippines, Singapore, Hong Kong, Canada, Germany, Nepal, Japan and India.
The Womenpreneur Asia podcast is seasonal with 14 episodes each season available on Spotify, Google Podcasts, Apple Podcasts and major podcasting platforms.
